Everything But the Girl

Of course I'm a huge EBTG fan and I miss them now that they are no more. I always thought they were very good lyricists. Love the opening lines to the song Cross My Heart

Now and then
Do you wash your hands of me again?
Wish me anywhere but home
Drunk and on the end of your phone

Here's some band doing the song at a wedding

Back in the 90's they toured around doing acoustic shows. Too bad they never recorded one of these concerts for video. But with youtube at least I can get a sense of what it was like.

Poor Ben looks awful. He was sick with some illness that almost killed him. But he survived and they went on to have a big hit eventually. Now he has his own record label and DJs while Tracey has been taking care of their kids. She recently put out an album and it was OK. The best song was a song she wrote about Ben. It's cool because they never seem to write songs about their own relationship.

We don't need any kind of big parade
Just this once a little serenade
To celebrate this love we've made
We don't need
Don't need a big fanfare
This is just my heart laid bare
For anyone who might care
